Manager's response to your quiet quitting

I see quiet quitting as a completely natural act of resistance and rebellion against the squeezing of employees. I'm too tired and I'm thinking that I should stop putting in so much effort as I did before. However, I don't know how my boss would react to that. How did your boss react upon noticing that you no longer intend to go above and beyond?

Work less and pretend to drink the blue Kool-Aid (kiss a@$) to your manager. You will be promoted and they won’t notice your lesser business results.

Please turn off the lights off when you are done.

@bbk. No because I leader doesn't care anymore either. She is on the chopping block as well and is openly again what ASDU leadership is doing and how poorly this is all being handled from a respect standpoint. I suppose if you have a leader that still happens to care (they are becoming less and less) then you may have problems with scaling back.

@aes : Did your manager tell you that he or she noticed you weren't trying as hard as you used to?

Quiet Quitting doesn't mean refusing to work. It means doing what you feel you are being paid and valued at. Me? I still work but only at about 60-70% of what these id--t leaders think I should. I am underpaid, underappreciated, and not respected so I decide how much I work based on the above. They want more work they don't expect it but they show me that it is respected, valued, and that I be adequately compensated. Simple as that.

For many employees, I suspect they may not realize they're QQ. Like you said, they're reacting to the worry and stress. As I read these boards, I see stress levels that are off the charts after the pandemic, crazy world events, slowing supply lines, and then pile on layoffs.

Years ago, during my first layoff, we were let go in stages. And, one employee, who was to be let go in a later stage, started acting in very threatening ways. Enough so, the rest of us were afraid.
