Exxon Scientists Predicted Global Warming, Even as Company Cast Doubts, Study Finds

Starting in the 1970s, scientists working for the oil giant made remarkably accurate projections of just how much burning fossil fuels would warm the planet.

I remember that "study". It was actually a simple supply demand study of oil, gas and coal then translated into CO2 emissions. Then it applied "known science" of the ECS (equilibrium climate sensitivity or ECS) ECS is how much temp increases with doubling of CO2. XOM estimate was very similar to other estimates (that is 1 degree by 2020).

The big thing XOM missed was fossil fuel demand...It was much higher than forecasted.

Partly explains why EM hates their geoscientists and is running them off as fast as they can.

Woke garbage. EM is a super toxic company, but woke lies are still just lies. Read the Science article; it completely avoids mentioning what kind of Exxon report they’re referring to or showing the actual “documents” they supposedly got their hands on. This is for dim wits who can’t tell what a forward model is. Apparently quite a few at these on todays EM payroll.

This is not science and it’s not news; it’s pure ideologically driven garbage and it shows how low the New York Times has fallen.
Another stu_pid article about “Exxon scientists predicting global warming” and another mo_ron who takes this legend seriously. FYI, in the ‘70s there were no computers that could run any half-decent climate model, which is why at that time the “scientific consensus” was that the Earth is entering a new Ice Age. The legend with “Exxon knew” was launched about a decade ago by some “environmental” jer_ks who sued EM and then switched to “shareholder deception” when the courts laughed at them.

This is old news the way presented.
The New findings regarding EM research over the decades is important:
"EM scientists (in Annandale btw) from late 60's on were "Astoundingly Accurate" with their models and predictions for climate and related impacts."

That is - EM had some of the best scientists in the world at one time.
The best.

that's what is important here.

It looks like management neglect of -low-potential individual contributors go back to the 70s.

Those guys back them even invented Lithium Batteries.

Naturally they were all PIPed.

Nothing has changed.

Just wait until the scientists are gone... no more global warming/changes matters to debate... am I riiight??

Look at all the weather extreme events witnessed in just the last year alone... people need to look at the WHOLE spectrum... from the coldest to the hottest, from wettest to driest periods, and their durations...

"Keep On Truck'n..."
