Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Can they just rip off the bandaid? This is torture.

All I’ve heard is more layoffs can be expected throughout the first quarter/more layoffs are coming. Luckily I made the first cut, but how the he-l am I supposed to keep my head down and just keep working? Do I look for other jobs at this point? Obviously they don’t care at all about me as an employee so why should I put effort into a company that is willing to just cut me off within an hour’s notice…

Folks, especially you under 40 kids, stop stressing. It ain't worth it. I was with Nielsen for 18 years. Won't say exactly when but I was around during the terrible layoffs of 2006 when we were taken private and all the hacks like Dave Calhoun were brought in. Thousands of back end jobs outsourced from Oldsmar to India. Was horrible. I was a NYC rep and watched it all up close. As you get older kids, you realize working at Nielsen is just a thing you do to pay bills. You'll find another crumby job. Not a big deal.

We are waiting for the layoff season to start here in Europe. We know that our office will be impacted.
Im so glad I did so little for this company those past years, Nielsen has never been a good employer anyway.
Good luck to my fellows europeans

In Europe is gonna take a couple of weeks to explode and communicate. So people we are gonna be just anxious waiting for news - very well played Nielsen xD

Briefly talked with my management, they expect no reductions where I am, but all around for sure in teams we collab (locally and tech hubs), anyway manager couldn't say safely that we are 100% safe.

I Think This is Also about Putting Fear in the Remaining Employees. It is About Control.

supposedly most of US is done

so if you’re in the US you’re likely ok but keep in mind nielsen lays off every damn year.

been here 4 yrs & 3 layoff rounds.
although the others didn’t drag on this long unless pandemic brain has me misremembering.

this time they’re a private company & don’t have to announce the exact figures cut or exact timings, which makes it harder to know what the f is going on.

But technically shouldn’t it be 80% stay and 20% laid off? That’s still a good chance that you will stay. Although I think most people will start looking elsewhere
