Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Nielsen Layoffs Day 2

So we had our first round of layoffs on 1/11/2023. I personally saw the Slack accounts of 7 of my extended standup teammates deactivated and also found out that 2 VPs of DS also got terminated, one of which has been with Nielsen for over 20 years (Chicago and NYC offices).

The rest of us did not not hear anything from HR nor do we have any "surprise" 1 on 1s scheduled on our calendars for tomorrow or Friday. Does this mean we can breathe easy?

There are rumors that there will be a phase 2 of layoffs. Does this pertain to layoffs within the coming week, or another round of layoffs a few weeks down the line?

Also, there are rumors that managers who have team sizes below a certain (unknown) threshold will also be terminated and their team will be merged with larger teams. We would appreciate any updates on this as well.

Nielsen is known for laying off workers without blinking an eye. Years of work or timing does not matter to the Company. In the middle of the pandemic they laid of people back in 2020. Did so many people dirty in 2020! Maybe, Karma hits some of those Manager's and VP's who did not care laying off so many who had families in need during Covid.
