@gwk They’re all huge companies with global brand recognition. Having any of them on your resume looks good.

Very few recruiters and hiring managers know (or care) about the internal politics of a candidate’s current/past employer. It’s nowhere near as much of a factor as some people on here make it out to be.

@OP Source is trash and this has nothing to do with layoffs or PIPs.

I still read this site because I have an admittedly unhealthy obsession with seeing EM people get away from this horrible place. I left in 2022 to a non-FAANG large tech company. Sure, there are problems and cultural issues, but nothing I’ve seen comes close to the deep systemic toxicity endured by EM people, especially in service functions like EMIT. Pre-2020 I thought about the risk of layoffs, etc. at other companies but since EM has shown its true colors I decided to stop worrying and take ownership of my own career, grow myself professionally, and not tie myself to a single identity/company.

Bruh...XOM use to have ~90k employees worldwide. How many are there today? Oh, and still trending down. Not layoffs, layoffs.

Nice. You took a minute from making ho-e to post some Fox. Well, really well for me. The people being laid off are so valuable they find jobs in no time. Kind of like every few years in O&G, right? Oh….

No reasonable person would go from tech to oil @2the.

They went to tech.

Now trying to go back to oil.

Once they come back to oil, oil will tank and the cycle will repeat.

It's funny isn't it that those who defend EM come here.

Defending this wast3land in LinkedIn or Yammer I can understand, seeking some karma points from the supervisor to secure a better ranking, this is the EM way.

But defending it anonymously??? I can't think of anyone who would do this unless is either paid or r3tard3d

Unfortunately there is no alumni group where all the people who have left can reminisce and commiserate about their time at the Tiger

The cuts in tech are mostly in sales and middle management. They’re still hiring engineers, developers, etc.

Most people working in O&G are in a state of grievous ignorance about the tech sector.

As a general rule, Fox Business is not a reliable source for businesses reporting outside of domestically-oriented, labor-intensive industries. Keep that in mind when linking to their articles.

Hotshot here.

Just completed my first performance review.

I almost cried.

I got honest candid feedback from a manager that genuinely cares about my career, and I even disagreed with his review but IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, the review was too kind and generous.

They’re still better. What do you think looks better on a resume - Salesforce/Amazon/Microsoft, or Exxon?
