I think the new acronym for VCIP should be BOHICA (bend over here it comes again). LOL

Chevron employees got shafted so I'm sure COP will toe the line. Don't want to be too competitive...

Earnings will be released (and hyped) Thursday. It was a very very very good year financially, lots of $ to toss after DEI projects, but bad morale resulting in safety incidents will cut into VCIP.

Maybe time to replace the S in spirit values from”safety” to “sixth” as in: Sixth in peer group.

165% we were 6th in the peer group, had some big safety incidents.

results are good not because of our performance, but because of something we don't control = high oil price. It would be interesting to see what the results would have been at a lower $/bbl.

VCIP will be unjustifiably (relative to performance when compared to other years) high this year. It has been awhile since a great payout. Overall, performance has been solid, prices are improved, we need the morale boost. It’s our time. Don’t overthink it. Year to year, it’s a process dominated by “Management Discretion” aka irrational logic.

I think better than last year. We successfully integrated the Shell Permian assets and will likely have over $12bil in cash once we report in next few weeks. Keep merit in mind too, I don’t think it will be as high as it should be given inflation (technically we base it on peers), but VCIP should be bumped for a one time benefit vs. higher S&B going forward. I’m in for 180%, c’mon Ryan, get everyone jacked!

If we dont get max payout after last year then we never will

145%. Performance-wise, 2022 feels like it should fall somewhere between the past two years once you strip away the cash gusher largely created by geopolitical events the company doesn’t control. So picking the midpoint between the two extremes. Flame away.

I would think they would try to beat last years 170% just bcz COP made so much money but some of the individual VCIP targets may have been challenged (safety incidents). I think they find a way to nudge this up above the 2022 payout - maybe 175%
