Sales Rebalance

Anyone know any details on this? Leadership has been noticeably quiet about anything. No plan, no date, no expectations.

Still not a peep on the plans for Sales. Guess Mon Jan 30 is the day anyone shares any plans.

Been here longer than the PSS role, and we (AM/SA) were just fine with occasional help from our "CSEs" before they created, yet another body that wants to be on customer calls. I cover >15M accounts and PSSs are absolutely not needed. Everything they "do" can be done with a half decent AM/SE + CSE (aka TSA).
Sorry not sorry!
As for BSAs.... well the name is in the title BS* Architect!!

Revisiting this thread... many PSS's just ride their TSA's through deals. The best PSS's are commercially minded TSA's. The OK PSS's are mid-level SE's who realised PSS was more money, and are commercially minded - as long as they realise when they are in over their head technicallly, if they don't they are a bad PSS. (Conversely, a bad TSA is a mid-level SE who is commercially minded, and gets technical stuff wrong, but keeps the job because they help their weak PSS's look good).

If you got rid of PSS, Product Management would be forced to make their pricing/licensing simpler, so an AM could understand it. That would be a great thing. Use the budget to hire more TSA's.

Mixed feeling about PSS myself. But agree that the BSA roles should all go. Totally useless wastage of payroll. They do absolutely nothing.

Appears all the PSS supporters are PSS themselves. With the sword of LR hanging overhead it's no wonder that they are jumping in to defend their positions in the company. Desperate much?

I've been a TSA and then moved over to take a PSS position a few years back. Some PSSs see themselves as the AM for that architecture....let me own it and run with it. That might work in very large accounts. When I was in commercial that was not needed...in most cases as the PSS I was more of the TSA, witch is fine as I see the PSS as having to be highly technical.....it is in the title "Product sales specialist".....not second fiddle AM.

I totally disagree regarding the PSS comments. I’ve been a PSS and in my experience the AM/SE team just brings in the specialist team to sell a given technology for them as they lack the expertise to do so. Aka the AM/SEs are sales quarterbacks and the PSS/TSAs deliver business and technical value to make a deal happen.

BSA has always proven to be a worthless endeavor, bringing it back. The PSS role needs to be looked at carefully, most of them are worthless but there are some who do add value.

The PSS are just blow-hard, talk only and no body seems to know what BSAs are supposed to do except for tagging themselves on revenue. Take out the BSAs, PSS' and most managers who contribute nothing to revenue & business generation and you save jobs of actual engineers who can give you growth given they are allowed to meet customers without micromanagement

This guy sells! 100% The reason why the PSS's are around is that the Architectures leaders effectively hold the theatre sales leads to account - they all forecast growth, then go beat up the theatre sales leads as to why their AM's are dropping the ball. Get rid of them, and the AM's, RM's, and theatre VP's will game their numbers like crazy.

I'm in the Americas (GES) and what's interesting is we've already had some rebalancing in sales...don't really know what to expect in Jan., as to OP's point, it's pretty quiet.

Wonder what will happen to the SE/SA, Business Solutions Architect (BSA) and AM/PSS? Especially in UK context. Most SE/SA role has been reduced to being an assistant AM. None of the AMs seem to be too eager to get to meet customers any more. Emphasis on C2E and GVE is being given daily for not back-filling the plethora of SAs and TSAs who left last year. The PSS are just blow-hard, talk only and no body seems to know what BSAs are supposed to do except for tagging themselves on revenue. Take out the BSAs, PSS' and most managers who contribute nothing to revenue & business generation and you save jobs of actual engineers who can give you growth given they are allowed to meet customers without micromanagement - the way we could prior to March 2020. Nonsensical cost cutting in meeting customers is costing us massive business. Still don't understand why we have to ask our managers before we can confirm a F2F meeting with a customer or partner. Ridiculous!

Most Commercial AM’s will be replaced by inside call center reps and SE’s will become pooled resource

RB has stated that sales will be notified last week of January. While she will not admit this, her numbers are down and she needs as many deals as she can get do she does not want to let anyone in sales know until the last moment possible.

Her selfishness means that those that will be let go will have less time to look for another job.
