Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Who'd you rather have - mike or Disney's bob iger?

At least with Mike, you can count on his inability to act and his core competence of leadership paralysis. WYW may last a while longer than people think.

Bob iger just ordered just about all disney employees back in the office march 1st 4 days per week. And that's in the name of "creativity" which is like 3Ms love of "innovation" tattooed on our buns.

While I'd rather have my boss Frank Shirley running this place (now that the Christmas bonus is 20 percent more than last year), another year of Mike and his indecisiveness isn't all that bad. I would have won my price is right showcase today and be on my way to a luxury vacation in Singapore and have an suv to boot. Time for some more spiked eggnog.

I can remember being in a building on the campus where the central area had a large TV and it was on espn that day. People came down for coffee and sat and watched sports center in the early afternoon for 30 plus minutes. This isn't any different than watching TPIR only that show is for an hour and I only really care about the showcases at the end.

The fact is unless you are in manufacturing or research where you need to be in a plant or lab, WYW should be made official. Most of the people at grades 15 and up are only in the office because the senior leadership doesn't really like WYW but can't retain good employees if they ditch it.

Given all the attrition even with WYW that 3M is going through, the only people who'd stay if Roman pulled an Iger is the boomers adding to their pensions. You'd lose about every under 40.

P.s. where's the guy who predicted a big announcement on WYW next week?

Watching the Price is Right during working hours is a tongue in cheek metaphor for all things WFH. It could be worse, such as watching Jeopardy!

"I'll take Companies that treat their their employees like $hit for 1000, Alex."

Why are there so many comments about people watching the price is right on these threads? Literally NOBODY under the age of 60 watches it!

Those regional leaders operating from their ivory towers are certainly for WYW. Since they work 100% remote at the comfort of their home. Mind you these are those JG15~17. They are constantly barking the plants to cut costs and keep driving T/OE productivity. They should get off their a-s and come to help out in the plants instead.

Generally, remote jobs are classified as such. I've know a few people who lived a state or two away from HQ but would come in town for a week and stay in a hotel. But mostly remote and the job was posted as that option.

As for WYW, it's not been around long enough to know if the definition has been established that the employee can choose to work remote. Things can change, like they did as disney just now, and hybrid is 3 or 4 days in the office with the option of a day of two at home.

For those who were awarded remote jobs, 3M is under some more obligation to not change the terms. WYW could die on the vine if a new CEO takes over or tireman gets into the ear of the new CEO and convinces her or him that 3M is more innovative when people are in the same building.

One thing is for sure, with Mike around expect no changes. He can't figure out what to have for lunch. He has no idea what to do with WYW.

WYW barely applies to me (in a plant) but I’m curious about all of these people who report to the plant but have moved across the country since covid sent them home. Is there a difference between WYW and being a remote employee?

Mike brings certainty for sure. Lower share price. Smaller bonuses. But I'd rather have him for a bit longer as long as WYW is still offered.

If monish gets promoted to CEO, like some predict, he will work with tireman to ki-l WYW. It doesn't fit the GE way of tormenting employees until they finally leave on their own without a package.

I would definitely miss watching price is right and that post lunch nap is worth 10k in pay per year.
