Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Worst of the worst

Informal survey of worst / useless orgs or groups at VMW in no particular order.
DEI
DMT
TANZU
VELO
EUC
All these teams seem to hold a common thread, everyone hates them. So far, while by no means scientific, a casual reading of the posts indicate it's a tie between DEI and Tanzu for the worst of the worst award.

Let’s not forget the Tanzu dynamic duo of Craig McLuckie and Joe Beda. Terrible leaders who ran everything and then just got up and left after looking at the mess they created.

Now Joshua Burgin has lots of responsibility- remember him?

When someone had the nerve to ask about DEI volunteers making up time in their regular jobs, the leader of that pod was quite hostile in their response

Just the flavor of the month for goldbrickers.

The people I’ve interacted with at Tanzu were unqualified for their position, arrogant, and their manager’s were as well. Repeated failures to deliver were never called out and the whole brand “Tanzu” is an incomprehensible mashup of technology. 10-20 page OKRs that read like buzzword bingo and of course have no basis in reality let alone execution. I had the opportunity to go back and read some of those OKRs from 1-2 years ago, signed off by the Tanzu leaders, and they are basically science projects that never happened because the ideas are bad and the execution non existent. I guess if you throw enough code monkeys at something, you get a tarball you can call a product. Ajay was out of his depth on this one.

Why would people hate Tanzu? If you don’t understand it that’s one thing but to hate the department that is an interesting stance. Maybe you have had bad internal reps? Or at least explain why you think this.

Customer Success should make the list. Pure overhead and not much value. I am sure it’s on the Hock chopping block.

SEBU/VELO will survive. It's a selling product. DEI is poison.

velo is a good source too. links with vrni and euc.
good product.

Broadcom could even make hardware just for velo.

Why get rid. Both successful.

My vote is for DEI, for far too long they have been bullying non DEI employees, citing things like low dei scores. When someone had the nerve to ask about DEI volunteers making up time in their regular jobs, the leader of that pod was quite hostile in their response. And god forbid anyone questions the pods, thats career su----e bc you'd be branded a na-i.

Not the OP but EUC doesn't fit into the Broadcom "core datacenter products" they have been touting.

the EUC thing is confusing... They do make money and lots of it in ARR... What's your beef?
