Does an exceptional performance rating guarantee a promotion in Fid folks?

No - at least in my area, most people need to be an EP for 2-3 years before actually getting promoted.

Just try and stay right up there in the middle.

It guarantees you will be cut by Fidelity. Exceptional performance means you will get big salary increases, big bonus, all the share programs (and there are many) debentures etc. Then your great performance means you are now expensive. Guess what? They will cut you regardless of your tenure or your performance. Now more than ever you are a number and if your number is viewed as expensive good-bye. Best to take the long haul…good performance but not outstanding. The old leadership believed in rewarding outstanding performance and keeping great staff…3rd generation has a different view - unless of course you have a skirt or identify as something else. Take the long haul…ok performance and reap the “benefits”

Never has!

Being the boss’s pet will though.

Definitely not. A promotion happens when there’s a performance case and a business case for the new role. It can be accompanied by an EP rating, or a strong SP rating.

An EP rating reflects an exceptional performance year, but not necessarily a promotion.
