@fj Nope. Walmart and Meta and Google are all in the top ten. Walmart is the top in their sector. That info is def true.
Will there be a lawsuit? 100s if not over 1k long-term Tech American associates have been replaced the past 10 years with H1b Visa workers. The Tech sector as a whole is in crisis with thousands of experienced unemployed American workers who ain't getting interviews unless they are for some of the low end contract vendor work.
@aw AcTuAlLy, it sounds like all your read was the AI overview at the top of your google search results and not any actual article or data, and you’ll be the only one surprised it’s incomplete. Do better.
Now they just need to review all H1B visas currently in place.
I’m not saying that we don’t need ANY H1B workers. But corporations have abused the program in the extreme and this caused the loss of good paying American jobs.
@at Actually, Walmart is in the top 10 overall and the #1 in the retail sector. I just read those statistics in one of the news reports from today.
It’s too bad the new fee doesn’t apply to already in place H1Bs.
@a4 Walmart isn’t even in the top 5 corporate sponsors for H1B visas for any of the last 5 years.
@ag Unlikely to reduce tech layoffs, they already dropped thousands. Until they purge the toxic leadership, and stop bringing outside toxicity into the company, the layoffs will be driven by these leaders purging older and longer term talent, making room for their friends from their previous companies to be brought in. And yes it is likely to increase the drive to move core WMTech to India, this has always been a risk since they increased investment there.
Does this make them less likely to lay off tech or just outsource more to IDC?
Boo hoo. I’m pretty sure there’s govt guidelines that requires Walmart management to certify the H1B skills being hired are not available from a US worker. I’m not so sure they try to find a US worker. Just take a walk through those tech areas and look around.
But, I’m happy Trump’s new $100k fee is having some effect. It’d be nice to see some of the current on-site H1Bs have their permission to work revoked.
I agree with something I read on this forum sometime ago: since Walmart is the largest corporate user of H1B, there should be a congressional investigation into all H1B hires in the last 10 years and a review of all documentation and interviews with hiring managers.
