Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Running on empty

Our team has been short by at least three people for months, and our manager keeps acting like it’s normal. The few of us left are juggling way too much, and it's only a matter of time before things start falling through the cracks. If they're hoping this is going to work long term, they're in for a rude awakening.

Just stop the reports going up the line. If someone wonders why they didn't get their roll-up report this month, tell them that this is low priority and reporting is now quarterly. After a while, you can make it semi-annually.

ENGINE is failing on my fronts, so don't let things falling and cracks bother you. We need to let things burn and crumble, with ENGINE leading the way. There are still many out there thinking working extra hard and delivering will let them keep their job. Give it about another year then more talks about next round of RIFs will be coming out.

Why are you so worried about things falling through the cracks? Clearly the company is not worried, or they would have resourced it. Let sh*t fail, and don’t feel bad about it.

Personally, I don't think the cuts were deep enough. I reckon MW, MN, EB, AW, LC, AS, BK could have the work done by 10:30 am, and still have enough time for belt shopping, a teeth whitening, and a round of golf, before retiring to the box seats in the evening.

I'd love to find out how effective these feckless leaders actually are without the support of those they gleefully deem expendable.

Letting something slip through with the bare minimum is easier said than done, the requests come from those actually doing the bare minimum usually with high PSGs with all the time in the world to ask cheap follow up questions without due consideration of the effort required. The pressure to deliver remains constant, and failing to meet expectations can diminish the remaining iota of reputation —making life at this hole feel even heavier.

BARE MINIMUM EFFORT. Dont reward them and let things fall through the cracks.
