Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

How many people have another job lined up after STI in February 2023 and will be leaving AIG?

Is it better to wait and be riff’d, or leave AIG on your own terms next year?

It is classic AIG. Throw some crumbs to the peasants while the elite cash in. Nothing new or noble about it.

$500 not for anyone special. Actually, the opposite of special since it’s for grade 23 and below. The irony here is that it’s so unoriginal for those that remember this is the same thing BD did a few years ago and then used it as a marketing campaign, going to every conference telling people how great AIG treats people, I’d imagine PZ will do the same here. Difference is this bonus cost PZ way less than BD since there are about 10.000 less employees than was BD did it

Why should I leave? I also got the Christmas present of 500 usd tax free from Peter!! I'm not jocking, I loved it, not sure if it's only for people marked as hard to replace or that got above and beyond or something like that. I'm going for a better job, IF I find one, and I'm actively looking around sure, but no rush at all. The more people leave, the more opportunities arise for who remains (if they are not supposed to be kicked out , of course). I see more and more people getting promoted lately only thanks to that... It could be a great elevator to improve your working experience before everything crumble.

It is common knowledge that mass layoffs are coming 1Q 2023, including Claims. AIG has become a joke in the industry so it is unable to attract competent talent, which is impacting those of us who are working overtime with no resources and unqualified management. At this point in the year, better to wait out to STI and have something lined up as of March 1. This is the best advice I can give, having worked at AIG for many years. Do NOT stay - it is about to get much worse in 2023!!

Definitely going to the job market after sti. Rif packages used to be fairly common. Now you are very lucky if you get that offer. Not waiting for a package any longer. Packages cost too much and impact upper management bonus structures. You will most likely leave by attrition, sale of your division or outsourcing going forward.

I am looking at options, as at least in IT it’s a dumpster fire. The vendors now run it, and have all the leverage. I really enjoy going into the office when our vendors do not have to.

The group that turns out the lights will not get severance, as there will be nothing left.

Under 50? Leave NOW!!!!!
Over 50....have something guaranteed lined up if you want to go. I'm an old timer so I am going to wait to get kicked and collect severance. Then I go back to being an adult film star again....they called me Dirk. Lol.
