Curious if anyone has ever heard a higher ups candid opinion on this. Surely they're not in meeting rooms pretending it's actually necessary and don't notice how upset it makes people. Or are they really all some kind of NPCs just going with the larp to cover their own assets

@gy The plan is 5 day RTO, but they can't just hit you with it at once, you are being nudged into conforming, first it was 1 day, then 2, then 3, then 4, then 5. Right now, you'd be satisfied with going back to 3. To keep you at 5, they will do something that makes you grateful its not worse. That is why you wont end up with just 5 day rto, but something with it... so you see and know it could be worse should they make you grateful for 5 day rto by taking away the second part.
Every skip level meeting I’ve attended I have heard nothing but regret we haven’t started 5 day rto. They’re all in on it

I haven't heard them actually come out and say it like I would but they have insinuated the insanity of it (director level). All the VP says is "it's important to Ford". I take that as "It's not important to me, but JF said do it"

There is more chance to work from home than have assigned seating like pre covid. That's straight from the weasel guys mouth.
They love RTO and it’s not going away so get used to it. What you should be doing is to ask your management for assigned seating rather than an open office environment.
