I was informed yesterday that my job is over on Feb 28. Worked for Xerox for a long time and was moved to HCL a few years back- now my job is being moved to TCS the new outsourcing company and I get to train my replacement. This is hard. I really liked my job and the people I worked with. Lots of jerks / trolls on this site who are former employees and now haters - but I am not. I am devastated that a job I loved will no longer be mine in less than 90 days - but I did see it coming. I will get another job - but sorry that this one ended.

Typical Xerox game plan today ..
I was also moved to HCL in 2019 and downsized two months before COVID-19. I like my co-workers, customers, and the Xerox equipment. But, outside of my direct managers, Xerox lost it years ago. I will never work for Xerox or HCL ever again. Way happier now in my new position of almost 2.5 years.
Confused? Is TCS (Tata) taking over for ALL HCL jobs (and is HCL going away?) or just your job and a few others and HCL is still at Xerox?
You must be a lease admin. I'm sorry to hear but everyone I've spoken to that was rebadged and let go has gone on to find better jobs where there is more work/life balance, better pay and better benefits. It will end up being a blessing. Good luck
The "lawyered up" guy cannot be from the US or is just full of it.
In all honesty at least your have come to terms with your decision. When you are rebadged to HCL it 100% means that your job will be offshored, it is just a matter of when. They made this so obvious not - you have to be blind to not see it. So if you stayed during that period without looking for a job during the hottest job market in a generation - you chose to stay at a job with an inevitable end date and rolled the dice that the market will still be hot when u are eventually let go.
I made the decision to leave Xerox before all the offshoring began over 3.5 years ago and never looked back. I’m making over 40K more annually now with incredible benefits, co workers (there’s nice coworkers outside Xerox too).
At the time my wife had just come off mat leave and it was very stressful time for me and uncertain but I saw the writing on the wall and pushed myself to go out there, interview and with a bit of struggle it worked.
There’s life after Xerox, just go after it.!
You could have stopped at Xerox may be Stupid. That would have been fine.
That’s so sad.
Which part of the organization are you with?
You must have a different severance agreement than the rest of us. By signing that agreement you are agreeing not sue or hold Xerox responsible for anything that happened in the past, present, or future. It's pretty iron clad on Xerox's part. If you attempt to sue Xerox, one, it will be thrown out because you signed a legal document in exchange for severance money, and two, part of the agreement you signed gives Xerox the legal right to reclaim the severance money they gave you.
Xerox may be stupid on many items, but the severance agreement isn't one of them.
I got offshored to HCL for 1 year and trained my replacement to ensure severence. Once settled, I lawyered up and successfully sued for wrongful dismissal. Luckily I started a new job within a few months. Couldn't imagine a better outcome.
I keep hearing, “no transferable skills”.
It makes it sound like a coal miner in a jet propulsion laboratory. Give me a break. Seriously.
How could someone come on here, hating Xerox as much as a lot of people do, and insult someones ability to learn or use a skill that they have developed in life? No transferable skills.
Ummm Electronic troubleshooting, Electromechanical skills, customer relations, time management, parts control, and much much more.
So you are telling me that there is No field where any of this is relevant?
What if i learned how to dig a ditch from my father when i was six, am i not able to even apply for a job with the highway department or construction?
Dude, your prejudice against people that worked at xerox and are trying to better themselves is blatantly obvious.
You guys think about that as you read the rest of the posts on this site.
I remember 3 years ago when the HCL thing became real. My coworker was one of those "selected" guys that his job was off shored to India. They gave him an end date and the requirement of training his replacement. They said stay and train or no severance package. Reality is Xerox doesn't owe you a severance package. He stayed and did the bare minimum and got his severance package. And he found a new job while training his HCL counterpart.
Sorry to hear that. Good thing is they gave you time rather than walk you out the door same day. Gives you time to prepare good luck.
Your non-transferable skills and the recession wont apply to you and your job search! Congrats.
You are responsible for your career and your happiness. Its not up to anyone else but you. Take charge and quit acting like a victim here. Take your experience and move on. It’s well past time to get out of there.
are they blackmailing you to train replacements? they don't have much left to hold over you so do not do it
what was your role at hcl?
The term “troll” usually refers to someone who maliciously harasses, attacks, or cyberbullies others. They might take your words out of context, spam you with offensive content or even engage in racist, homophobic, misogynistic, or otherwise hateful rhetoric.
Just for the record.
There is nothing more demeaning than being directed to train your outsourced replacement. Unfortunately these past few years this has become the norm inside Xerox.
People don’t trust this industry. Stock or no stock. You will make your wealth better doing a garage sale than here.
Seriously, the people here would s-t-a-b you in the back for a nickel. Anyone with ethics or a backbone is long gone.
Get out of this industry as fast as you can, and don’t look back.
They will lie, cheat, belittle you, talk down to you, antagonize you, and still send you the same worthless email 4 times. You all deserve better than this.
But, if you don’t believe me, stay and find out the hard way. Heaven forbid you learn something from what happened to others before you.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
Don’t listen to the whiners. Bunch of clowns who sit there and cry because a publicly traded company didn’t give them attention and they can’t understand why. Sorry to hear about your job loss.
Not likely in this industry as corrupt and backstabbing as it is.
If you leave this industry, you have a true fighting chance. Thats what i hope for you.
We do have good skills, solid reputation, and great experiences here despite what the one or two disgruntled employees who troll here claim. You will land on your feet. Best of luck in 2023.
Trolls or informed ex employees?
You go ahead and be devastated, how could you see this coming and not prepare for it?
Did you expect it to fix itself?
This place is using you as a tool.
I would never train a replacement.
If you feel so confident that you can find another job, leave today!
Xerox on your resume is like having Arby’s on your resume. Only difference is no beef sandwich or curly fries.
Completely worthless to practically everyone. Get out and tell them where to go, as thats All they understand.
Yeah……Troll…. Ok. Whatever you think but as soon as you leave you’re better off. Again it’s all they understand ….period.
