Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Jump ship after these layoffs?

I seem to have survived, but I'm lacking motivation and it's hard for me to focus on work. I lost excellent colleagues, as well as the little remaining trust I had in the leadership.

How to be productive after all this, when people are already talking about possible cuts two months from now?

It's difficult. I don't intend to test my luck again. Better to devote myself to looking for other opportunities.

Maybe wait until the end of February and play it cool hoping you get paid out to leave.

Leave while you can and don't give them the satisfaction of deciding when they are done with you. I left on my own and was the best day ever. I am embarrassed to say I have this heartless company 20 years.

Most of the internal jobs have preferred candidates. It's a waste of time to continue interviewing at Pepsi. I was already looking outside the company in January 2021 when luckily, I got the layoff zoom call March 2021. I found something immediately after we were let go August 2021. So not only did I get severance pay from Pepsi for a year, I got a regular paycheck from my new employer, too.

You must be new. I don’t think you can quit a job based on fear of being laid off because it can happen anywhere, PepsiCo isn’t different. If you find the job itself significantly impacting your personal life and it isn’t something you have the power to change then you should look for something new. Otherwise, I’d generally look for what additional experience you can gain to grow in your career to take to the next job at some point.

Leave on your terms. Loyalty is a fairy tale story in corporate America. Find something that makes you happy and yes there are better opportunities. Just have to put effort to find it

Layoff was one of the best things that could happen to me. I was planning on quitting in March and leaving my dead-end job after getting bonus. I didn't like my coworkers (most of the good ones already moved on) and going to work every day was a drag. Now I get six months of pay and can focus on my side gig. This just accelerates things and makes leaving a certainty.

That's what they want, do it on your terms (so they don't have to pay severance)

Understandable. Don’t wait around to be the next victim. The dedication, long hours and time not spent with family is not rewarded. Find a trustworthy business that lines up with your values. You’ll earn more and will be happier.
