Thread regarding Synamedia layoffs

What’s keeping you here?

Question for the unfortunate survivors - what’s keeping you here? Is it the chance of massive rewards when the exit from Permira comes good? Maybe you feel like you’re at the cutting edge if something great? Maybe you love the fact that you can keep your head down, do nothing difficult, and can survive in a backwater for a nice long time? Are you learning lots of great new skills? Do you feel like you’re part of a highly tuned machine now, built for explosive growth?

Genuine question.

Why do you think the job needs to be “in the area”? Genuine question.

Harder finding new jobs in the area as companies are laying off - rather stay as long as I have something and look passively in the meantime

@Kerching, almost perfect, and then the factual phrase, "Customers can’t want to buy them", although you're probably righter than you thought.

Lol. British sarcasm for the benefit of ROW 😁

I’m staying because I’m looking forward to the great success of the new products. Customers can’t want to buy them and I want to be part of the forthcoming bonanza. You’d be foolish to walk away from this.

That's a rude way to refer to the BMW dealership

One of the real perks of the job in CF used to be having the tip right next door to the office. Now we are all forced to work at home, I don’t even have that pleasure.

Hey Archie, start looking now. If they don't pay the bonus, you are already ahead of the game. If they do, take it as severance and run.

Well in summary, not a lot is keeping me here right now. I'll wait until end of Jan 2023 for confirmation that I'll get my bonus but if I don't get this confirmation, then I'm off. On the basis that I suspect Synamedia will no longer reopen the office that I used to work in, I might as well work from home for a London based company that pays much better (and actually has some prospects).

Thanks to the CEO's total mismanagement, the entire workforce is now disillusioned and demotivated. It is hard to see how this will make us more efficient (which is what the CEO wanted). Quite frankly it is going to have the opposite effect. I think Synamedia will also have difficulty selling products to new customers - if I was a new customer I wouldn't be buying anything from a company that I think may not be around in a few years; especially based on the kind of things we sell i.e. systems that require long term support.

I genuinely think it is game over for Synamedia.
