What's up with XOM's recent hiring spree in the USA? Are they wanting to re-fill the low ranking buckets to replace those PIP'd out? Are they hiring cannon fodder to keep protecting the HIPOs?

US hiring is way down. We don’t even go to most of the universities we used to recruit from. They are just making more noise about the small hiring that is happening. Smoke and mirrors. Total misdirection and distraction from what is actually happening. Like all of the news articles blaming oil and gas layoffs on AI when the real reason is offshoring. Wake up!
@a3 have you been to any of those sites? Overrun by BTC expats working in the USA
@OP Standard corporate tactic.
They (companies) kick all of the highest earning contributors off the payroll to “normalize” salaries, then after a quarter or two, backfill a percentage of the roles at a reduced compensation level. Even better if they can hire contractors and throw the labor costs into the operating budget. Executives can then tout cost-cutting and efficiency to the shareholders to score their bonuses.
It’s slimy AF and every large publicly-traded company does it.
@a3
Looks like there are several geoscience postings for the glass house (Spring campus).
The ONLY real hiring in the US is for sites.
The rest of employee replacement is in India.
If you want to live in West TX, Baytown, or Baton Rouge… then come on in!
