I guess I was confused by the above quote from the OP above when I responded that there was no HTS in Albany NY.

The original comment was about a Hometown store in Albany, Oregon, yet everyone after that is responding as if it said Albany, New York. (The current official Hometown Store list doesn't show a location open in either city.)

To my knowledge there was never a Sears Hometown store in Albany, NY. There was a Sears Outlet that became American Freight in February 2020. The Sears full line store closed in September 2017.

As of today, Bullhead City, AZ is no longer on the official list (but Green Valley, AZ still is)
Laramie, WY is also off the list today.

Sterling must have just today been taken off the official list, as it was still there yesterday. Their last day is either today or Sunday.

• I intentionally didn't put hometown in the title because I was testing to see if that was triggering the deletion. The sterling co closure was sent 3 times to this group and deleted until the 3rd post didn't include hometown in the title. not sure if that's the reason or not.

• Albany NY HTS is closed acc to google and not on the HTS website

• The 10 listed on the HTS and not included on my list are listed as permantently closed on their FB pages, and/or on google. There's such a disclaimer at the top of the list.

• feels a little nitpicky to say that Sterling CO isn't closed 'yet' when they are undoubtedly in the closing process: deleted from Sears HTS website, multiple posts on their FB page acknowledging they are closing.

• The Houston TX HTS seems open? I don't have it on the list, because there was an article cited that they were closing, but no other evidence: still listed on HTS page, and FB and google do not designate it as closed.

• the statement that google isn't accurate is a converse proof. Citing an example when google says it is open and it is not, is not the same as saying it closed and it is in fact open.

While this thread is technically accurate, can you do us a favor OP, and include the words "Sears Hometown Store" in the title of these threads, please, in the future? It makes the post more specific, and less confusing, so we Know we are discussing a Hometown Sears, as opposed to the larger, full-line, "regular" Sears. When people just write "Sears in XYZ town is closing, then it appears to the na--d eye, that it is referring to a full service Sears.

I wouldn't trust Yelp or Google (that someone referenced below). Often, they have open stores listed as closed, and vice versa, as well. As an example, they currently have the Hato Rey PR Kmart as closed on google, which is correct, but when I google Kmart pharmacy PR, they have it listed as open (which it isn't, and I called their number at 787-282-2291, to verify that. All their prescriptions have been transferred to the nearby Walgreens). So take Google and Yelp with a grain of salt.

Are you sure that store in Albany is still open? It is not listed in the Sears Hometown Store Locator.

There is one in Albany Oregon that is still open.
