Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

This Is Normal

First of all, I have to preface this by saying I know the pain of being laid off. I had a dream job for going on five years, only to be laid off at the end of 2025. It su-ks. It hurts. You question yourself. Unfornuately, it is normal and no one is trully safe.

The best you can do is improve yourself. Don't get comfortable. Take one day at a time.

I'm relatively new at EJ and I definitely have mixed feelings knowing all of this. Keep your head up and don't question yourself.

@ab You will have to forgive our east coast wall street friends. It is not their fault that they live and die by the all mighty $ sign, it's jist generations of inbred psychopathic breeding that has led them to this mindset. They believe they are the "chosen ones" to run this industry. Davids Shoebox is waiting in the wings to decimate what is left here.

@aa if you can only trust someone with what is written down, then you can’t trust them. People and companies are really who they are when no one is watching and they could get away with something.

Trust should be in writing. Read the situation and result. Good luck

Read the room homie, this is not normal for THIS company and the history of it. An unwritten trust has been broken. It began 2 yrs ago quietly, but now it is out in the open. The mask is off now and there is no going back to the way things were. Nothing about this process is 'normal' , 'healthy', or necessary for the company survival. The speed and brutality of these changes indicate a massive disconnect at the higher levels and plans to totally morph this company into something it is not.

It happened. Move on and good luck. Happening in many areas this very moment

No.

This is not normal.

Not here.

100 years without a layoff.

Market crashes, depressions, recessions, oil crises, inflation crisis, housing crisis, lawsuits, wars…. AND NOT ONE LAYOFF.

This place was supposed to be different. It WAS different. This is not normal here, but now that we have opened this can of worms it is just another thing we can do to boost Penny’s pay, to add GPs from other firms, to add a new ELT member.

We. Were. Different.

Now we aren’t anymore. We should be angry. Those who are gone and those who are left SHOULD be angry.

I’m not questioning myself. I know my worth. I know I earned every last cent I was paid. I also know I lived every moment with a high moral compass and integrity. Penny and the ELT are the ones that need to be questioning themselves as to why they disobeyed the teachings of the person they claim to worship, Ted, and sell thousands of people out. Ted said money was never his god. Unfortunately, Penny appears to go to a different church.
