Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

They couldn't wait to tell me

After 24 years of service, my Sr Director decided to tell me the news while I am out of medical leave. He didn't have any compassion and in fact tried to 'get me to come in' to meet HR. I told him I could barely walk cause I have 18 stiches in my back which he knew. I get it they have to tell me asap but to ask if I can come into the office knowing I had a major surgery, just tells you the kind of person they were.

If you are not a "Yes" man and spoke the truth then you are targeted now a days at PepsiCo.

I think this may turn out to be a blessing cause honestly PepsiCo has been using the layoff to meet numbers for years now. I think I would rather work for a company that supports their people versus laying them off while they are on medical leave and during the Christmas season. Not to mention, I know a lot of people that went through this process with PepsiCo and every one of them got a way better job with less work. I will be praying to the ones that are impacted .

A few years back my husband had eye surgery and HR told him he had to come in for a meeting at a certain time. I also worked at Frito in another department. I had to take off to go drive him in for the meeting. I was leading the blind (for a while) into the office to hear the news - You are laid off. So sad and sick of them. Since then I was laid off last year. It is no longer an American Co. Herman would roll in his grave.

I am sorry to hear that. But this was not your "target" anyone. Very great people all around were impacted. No one is targeting anyone. This is not good for anyone involved regardless of their personal situation.

I think you will be covered with health insurance while on severance. Use the time to rest & recover

I'm surprised there's still people left with pensions. It's all about the money. Look at all the new Tesla's they just bought for the fleet.

Hi @Coffee55. Echoing above post: First concern is your recovery! The Sr. Director is surely stressed, but no excuse. And I know that @mwk+1k3lYtzH was sincere in wishing you wonderful holiday season, as do I. I was outsourced this year and needed unexpected surgery just after. I assure you this time "off" will do your body good! Keep looking up and ahead, I've never met anyone who left / was pushed out of PepsiCo and regretted it.
