@ed I was in. Marketing but got let go the very first round of layoffs. With all these constant cuts, I’m pretty sure that there are like 5 people in marketing 😂

@jc Company is #98 on Fortune 100, but has slipped from #79 since CEO came on board in 2021. It won't be long before the company is out of the top 100.

What does marketing even do? Can’t think of the last time I saw a commercial or ad of any kind. Can’t remember the last time I told someone I worked at TIAA and they even knew what that was. I mean it’s a fortune 100 company that has been around for over 100 years and nobody outside of our participants have ever heard of it.

I guess 5% of the marketing team got in the way of big M. It’s kind of sad that she doesn’t know how to do her job and just fires people that don’t agree with her. Then she blames AI for the firing. Also, the sh---y agency isn’t doing that great work, and we are paying them the same rate as a Nike or Coke Cola deal.

How big is the marketing org now? When I was there it was well over 400. Just curious if all these cuts over the last couple years actually made a dent or they just rehiring cheaper labor?

AI can’t do everything yet the creative piece will still be driven by creative people. When we get to AGI that may change, but given the hallucination level even in Open AIs new model, we close. It’s going to take a new structural way of doing these models to make that happen.

However, it does save a lot of time, just like a large number of people had secretaries before computers started being deployed to everyone in the 90s, this is going get rid of a lot of people. If you are on the AI is over hyped bus so aren’t trying to use it you’re going to get left behind. I can save hours a week even with our half baked version right now. A creative person who uses AI in marketing will be able to do exponentially more than someone who doesn’t.

AI will take a ton of jobs, but it’ll take a much bigger percentage of jobs from people who are complaining that AI will take jobs.

They are farming it out to Accenture and outsourcing firms. Will save about $500K per year on these layoffs alone. This is exactly the schit which happens when Denver closes and cost over runs by moving to Frisco cost 50% more than originally projected 3 years ago.

What? AI will do handle everything. We will not need creative, experienced humans. You will train your AI replacement during this year of culture and be happy.
