Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Are college hires being impacted by the layoffs?

Curious if any entry level positions have been laid off or if anyone with under a year tenure has been impacted

I am a college hire who came in through the internship program. Started in July 2021, was laid off this week.

Not responding to emails and ignoring meetings invitations is epidemic at PepsiCo.

@2vjf+1k338tde I agree with everything you said. I’m a campus hire that’s only been here a couple months and already looking to leave. Everything is so disorganized. Managers are too busy to train. It’s a total sh-t show and the raise structure is far below market rate so there is no point in staying more than a year.

As a company veteran, college hires leave because it’s not a good company to work for. There is no value for them in working hard, you’ll climb faster by networking. And the company moves so slow it wouldn’t know what to do with a rock star if it hired one.

Campus hires are not safe. If they aren’t performing at their first performance review they are on the chopping block just like everyone else. Most won’t even stay that long to find out what happens. I know this because I hired campus for 2 years.

People complain about the college hires not working well but then will provide no training/guidance, ignore all their questions, don’t show up to their calls, and expect them to magically know everything.

If I were a manager I simply wouldn't accept a college hire offer if I needed someone long term. Grads see SAP in the distance and run. No one wants to work on dinosaur systems.

They need to be. No offense. But the college kids that come into our facility do not want to work and take jobs that other people are more qualified for. Whoever is recruiting these college kids needs to take a step back also. The last 3 summer interns we had were engineering students that had no interest in staying with Pepsi.

College hires in IT are centrally funded for 3 years and are not impacted within those 3 years.

Our whole US department is being off-shored. As far as I know, Warsaw is being spared.

I know of at least 1 new hire from the MBA campus program that was laid off. Marketing PBNA.
