Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Layoffs have begun.

MAPBU / Tanzu recruiter here. Received notice yesterday that VMware is reducing it's workforce even further, officially getting rid of the last group of 10-20 TA contractors.

More layoffs to be expected, obviously the next group will be the Full Time recruiters and so on and so forth. Don't waste anymore time at this shipwreck of a company.

You're only doing yourself a disservice and remaining loyal to a company that will cut you at a moment's notice. Along with that - leadership in HR have absolutely no idea what they're doing and continue to push there extremest liberal agenda down everyone's throats.

The titanic is sinking. Get out before they can kick you out.

If you are looking for a company without women, minorities and that tends to your needs only, good luck with that while working in IT

Imho, That isn’t what folks here are looking for, just less “let’s find a person of category XYZ at all costs” when doing hiring. It becomes insulting and overall id--tic. We can’t hire a woman because she is white - yea, that happens as well.

Can’t we just F’n code anymore without all this DEI show and tell? I see how other companies work , some are all aboard the DE8 wagon and others less so. I think VMware went to 11 on this one. Can we dial it back to 5?

"continue to push there extremest liberal agenda down everyone's throats."

"There extremest", yeah, right.

I would love all these whiners complaining about "wokeism", "extreme liberal agenda" coming back to tell us how well they are doing in their new companies when and if they find a new job. If you are looking for a company without women, minorities and that tends to your needs only, good luck with that while working in IT.

Clearly just an emotional rant and lack of how a business is run, the risk you take when taking a contract, and understanding the field you are in especially in the economy we are all battling in. If you feel their views are so liberal and extreme, why did you wait until you were cut? You were just fine while they employed you, now its all "RUN GET OUT". Typical angry person trying to point the finger vs just understanding the reality of the world we are in right now. Grow up.

A lot of companies have hiring stops. You don’t need recruiters to just sit around so naturally they go. Everywhere the same.not just VMware.

We've been having re-orgs. I wonder if the distros of the notifications are more limited than usual.

Contractors. They go into the job knowing they're getting cut at the first budget review. That doesn't mean it applies to full time employees.

It seems like you're inferring that full time people will be next, but don't have evidence for it?

no offense, but TA and recruiters at alot of tech companies have been laid off recently, this isnt a vmware thing. When they arent hiring, why do they need recruiters?
