Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

sorry

And while we have experienced unquestionable success as a result of that transformation and the hard work of our people, our continued growth requires us to honestly assess our fitness as an organization and evolve, better positioning ourselves for the future.

After navigating the pandemic and now facing a variety of headwinds and accelerated pace of change sweeping our industry, we recognize that further simplification and modernization of our business is essential to driving the overall health of PepsiCo.

Our vision to be Nationally Great, Locally Even Better remains the same, but we have the opportunity and obligation to run the business in a simpler, more uniform way to unlock productivity and savings. We also have the opportunity to double down on the priorities that give us scale, operating in unison as One PBNA, with a focus on leading the industry in creating demand, operational excellence and best-in-class execution.

To do this, we are undertaking an optimization of PBNA that will focus on streamlining marketing, centralizing manufacturing, creating an improved go-to-market focus, driving field consistency, and simplifying and flattening the organization. We will have more to share on each of these priority changes in the days to come.

The unfortunate reality of this transformation is that it involved difficult decisions that will impact our people. Following this message and over the course of this week, we will be notifying those who are impacted by this organizational change. We recognize the changes will be difficult for individuals and for our teams, and we are committed to treating people with care, respect and providing a comprehensive severance program to offer strong transition assistance to those who will be leaving the company.

We are asking all sector and division HQ-based employees to please work from home Monday through Wednesday of this week, as you are able.

While we know this change will strengthen our company, it is a difficult message to convey knowing we are making the tough choice to eliminate roles. Please show support and empathy for each other during this time and extend grace to those around you as we navigate the changes.

The unlucky ones will be those left behind “to be more efficient”

This was the FLNA and Quaker message

Two years ago, we embarked on a journey to transform our business and enable us to Always have a portfolio of choices consumers want, Everywhere they shop. We adapted our operating structure and created new ways of working to fix bottlenecks and keep pace with the rapidly evolving needs of our business and the marketplace. These changes enabled us to deliver record growth in the face of sustained and historic headwinds.

The 2020 transformation was made possible in part by our first-ever Voluntary Retirement Program (VRP). This program helped us offset the increasing costs of doing business and further unlocked productivity and savings. It also received such positive engagement that we offered it again this year, and it has again been successful.

This week, PepsiCo will take steps again to simplify the organization so we can operate more efficiently. Thanks to PFNA’s previous restructures and our VRP participation, our impact will be relatively small in scale. However, out of respect and for the privacy of those impacted, we encourage all HQ associates in Plano and Chicago to work from home Monday through Wednesday.

We acknowledge change is difficult and are committed to supporting our impacted teammates through this transition.

Thank you for your continued perseverance and commitment to PepsiCo.
