Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Disappointed

Hardly a “Model T” moment. It was telling that Bill was nowhere to be seen during this event.

Doing away with the Escape and Corsair for a gamble. What a shame. We need new leadership.

@OP

Being disappointed indicates you started from giving a $hit. 1st mistake.

@k5+1k2dhdxx4 The only thing Ford knows how to play is politics, Washington's politics.

Let's look at Toyota. They have a long term plan, that stays its course no matter what party is in power. Of course, there may be adjustments to adapt, but the course stays true. They decided to go hybrids, and even when the NA press was bashing them for not going full BEV, even when the Bidet administration was threatening to ban ICE, they stayed with hybrids.

Then we have Ford, that changes its "long term plan" every 4 years. Actually, scratch that. Ford doesn't have a long term plan. The C-suite can only copy what others are doing. So we went from hybrids to BEVs in 2019, then to hybrids a couple of years later, and now we are trying to go back to BEVs. Ford also said no sedans, only trucks. Then we are planning to have BEV sedans. How the F can we compete when we are jumping around like rabbits, from one idea to another?

This was to get political points from current government. They play as they must.

@d0 My friend had a perfectly good car and got brainwashed into getting a ford escape on lease through employee discounting and now has two cars.. lol. I don't have any point... just an observation.

You must be $hitting the bed like model e is. No, why would anyone stake the future of the business on a unit that loses billions upon billions....oh wait. Yeah never mind. I'll get the mop bucket and the toilet paper.

This new truck has no chance of being $30k in any real useable fashion. Don't be a su---r.

Were you really that disappointed? If you've spent any amount t of time at Ford dont you find letting them disappoint you to be exhausting? Don't be disappointed. They pay you, other then that they can do what they want. Run the company aground if they want. All you have to do is keep the checks coming in and Ford isnt the only employer out there.

I was disappointed that leadership billed the event as a "Model T" moment when clearly it should have been called a "Model e" moment. I don't understand why not give Model e the headlines for the new mobility platform instead of a 100+ year old legacy name. More of the potential customers of the universal platform know and aware of Model e than T.

Was any study even done on this before the event was named?

I know right? The young generation especially loves their Ford Escapes. They are one of the few affordable Fords these days (only?) I know a recent college grad (not at Ford) who raves about the Escape and says a lot of his friends have them. Not sure about long term durability but similar was the case with old Ford Escorts and Focuses.
