Today on LinkedIn HC10 resignations and BTC career fairs and brag posts

Opened up LinkedIn and was greeted with

  1. Brag post of engineer who graduated in 2020, spent 3 years at BYC, was expated to the Netherlands, then was expated to Singapore
  2. Brag post of another engineer who graduated in 2020 and has spent several years as expat to EG
  3. Brag post of another engineer who just finished recruiting at Gurugram and Chennai career fairs
  4. Brag post about hitting 5 years supporting Kearl from BTC
    Followed by numerous posts of HC10 colleagues announcing they are resigning. Many but not all resigned in response to unfair assessment results.

Follow-up to the (lack of) EMHC engineering skills post:

One reason why these guys keep harping on grammar is because they’re all glorified technical writers with the word “engineer” in their job title. They also seem to think that they have perfect command of the English language, even though vendors find errors in their purchase specs constantly - the very specs that they mostly copy and paste from API and “overlay” with some minor internal tweaks.

You’re not special fellas. And you never will be.

LoL what engineering are you doing at EMHC? Copy/pasting overlay specs for your vendors? Haha….😆 what a joke…

Most of you haven’t done any engineering work since you graduated from A&M or wherever EM recruits from these days. And it shows. I’ve had to explain the basics of dimensionless parameter groupings to EM “engineers” with 15+ years of claimed experience.

Things get really interesting when you people insist on interpreting our drawings for us, then double-down by pushing us to make unworkable changes to the geometry. At least the people at BTC know what they are. You clowns think you’re god’s gift to applied science (you’re not).

And no, I’m not hiring you. Ever. I’ve spent enough time dealing with you to where I’ll never hire anyone from EM who’s been there for more than 3-5 years. Your CVs mostly get deleted immediately.

I see the massive inequalities also, it's incredible to see the duality in the company, and the tone deaf attitude of those at the top embracing this inequality, and those coming in new celebrating their success.

This is no where near a fair and equitable company, sad but also glad I'm one of those with a confirmed other company to go to after the summer.
