Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Bold moves getting rid of a lot of us

PBNA associates
We have important news to share about the transformation of our organization
Since 2018, our North America beverage business has been on a jaumey to enable sustained growth. We took bold moves to
enhance and expand our portfolio, invest significantly in our system and create an operating model that enabled us to fully
leverage our vision of being nationally great locally even better!
And while we have experienced unquestionable success as a result of that transformation and the hard work of our people,
our continued growth requires us to honestly assess our fitness as an organization and evolve, better positioning ourselves for
the future
After navigating the pandemic and now facing a vanity of headwinds and accelerated pace of change sweeping our industry,
we recognize that further simplification and modernization of our business is essential to driving the overall health of PepsiCo.
Our vision to be Nationally Great, Locally Even Better remains the same, but we have the opportunity and obligation to run the
business in a simpler more uniform way to unlock productivity and savings: We also have the opportunity to double down on
the priorities that give us scale, operating in unison as One PBNA, with a focus on leading the industry in creating demand,
operational excellence and best-in-class execution
To do this, we are undertaking an optimization of PBNA that will focus on streamlining marketing, centralizing manufacturing,
creating an improved go-to-market focus, driving field consistency, and simplifying and flattening the organization. We will
have more to share on each of these priority changes in the days to come
The unfortunate reality of this transiormation is that it involved difficult decisions that will impact our people. Following this
message and over the course of this week, we will be notifying those who are impacted by this organizational change. We
recognize the changes will be difficult for individuals and for our teams, and we are committed to treating people wilh care,
respect and providing a comprehensive severance program to offer strong transition assistance to those who will be leaving
the company.
We are asking all sector and division HQ-based employees to please work from home Monday through Wednesday of this
week, as you are able.
While we know this change will strengthen our company, it is a difficult message to convey knowing we are making the tough
choice to eliminate roles. Please show support and empathy for each other during this time and extend grace to those around
you as we navigate the changes.
As soon as we are able, we will gather - in small and large groups - to dive deeper into how these steps ensure PBNA is
poised for sustained growth, supported by our PepsiCo Way behaviors, our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and
the pep+ agenda. We will build on the progress we've made and drive a mere united, effective PBNA that puts our teams in
position to deliver the greatest impact

They've been doing this for years, letting go of key folks or buying them into retirement. To them it's not a bold move, they don't have to be troubled about the short term headache, the burden falls on those left. In the long run the wheels keep turning. 'flattening the org' means letting go of 'overpriced' managers+ backfilling with the higher performers from below (and paying them less) and letting go of the rest

I was laid off in 2018 from IT, I was a L10
back then. it was stressful back then but I’m so grateful that it happened and I’m in a much better place now. Pepsi is not a good place to work for stability. Please look outside.

@des+1k2IisZx now that you mention it, my group chat has been quiet all day. Normally we are all reaching out and asking each other questions and assisting each other

It reads ..." and simplifying and flattening the organization....". Not sure at what level are they "flattening". And if they are truthful, anyone below Director will be spared!

Everyone is awfully quite in the group chats. Barely any movement. Lots of Zoom meetings on the supervisors end.
