Thank goodness AI is coming to save us from all tech jobs, H1B or native.

That’s funny given the success of AI pilot projects.

If American youth culture was as disciplined as many aspects of Chinese and Indian youth culture is, and we put a higher priority on education fundamentals like math, reading, science, etc instead of all of this other cultural bullsh-t, then Americans would be far more capable of the advanced education and skills necessary to do tech jobs that are being taken by H1Bs. But that’s only part of the story …

Big tack in business know they can hire H1Bs for less money and that they labor hard for years under the fear of losing their job, therefore H1B status and having to go back to their home country.

There are exceptional employees and leaders across every demographic and ethnic group. While USA industry does in a sense owe a debt to international workers and students coming here and getting tech jobs, we could also do much better in preparing nativeborn American citizens for these positions.

I’ve witnessed that the children of immigrants in tech are also the ones doing extracurricular math, science, robotics clubs, camps for this during the summer, etc., seemingly at a much higher percentage than the children of generational American families.

Where I work now, 70% overall and 100% many teams/orgs are H1-Bs. SAS was perfectly fine.
