Limit on Vacation Days Now

Ok. Since you have to meet 3 days on site presence per week and 4 days starting sept 1st mandatory....that means going forward all employees can only take one vacation day per week (or 1 day sick) starting next month. If you take even 2 vacation days you are sc--wwed, you cannot get your 4 badge swipes.

Since you will be disciplined and possibly terminated, I advise those who have any vacation longer than 3 day weekends going forward to change all your vacation plans. That's is if you want to remain an employee at Ford.

@qa, fully agree with you again. I think this is all advice for the management. The way they're running things, they are also causing stout Michigan talent want to leave because they're being considered "less" than the California talent. California/CE1 gets so much leeway to develop, their mistakes are very easily overlooked and forgiven because management simply sees them as superior.

I agree there's certain tech talent you simply can't match, but in that same breath you're also alienating really really good Michigan talent. I know plenty of Michigan engineers that are simply getting passed up because they are not from California. And I know for a fact these are not slackers. The problem is, a lot of these "talents" we are bringing in are coming in swinging with nothing but "California" behind their name. Deliver and earn your right to go swinging left and right.

And they really need to stop at the "At Google we get X" comparisons. Just go work for Google in that case.

@q4 I’m with you. To add to dialogue, I want to reaffirm my position in the juxtoposition between California talent vs Michigan talent

We value California talent higher than Michigan talent. We treat them better. We protect them better. California has better relatability. A rando academic participation grad cannot relate to tech talent. They can’t even begin to understand. There is also age. Michigan thinks you need to be a certain age to be talented which is false and has this horrible distaste towards authentic talent here living in Michigan which lets them get abused since nobody here in power can relate. They just keep abusing them system to system it’s fu--ing ridiculous. I also made the point that when you do this you send a message that tech talent in Michigan is allowed to be treated like sh-t and to put up with it. That’s fu--ing abusive. Michigan is currently an abusive state.
You want to win? Make
Amends with tech talent u hurt in the past lets say cough cough trafficked and abused and destroyed because of unshared power and jealousy. Get your right of passage. Otherwise stay doomed by shooting yourself in the foot and being egotistical

@pt, agree with you. It was more tongue in cheek. What we need are people with common sense (at the engineering level especially). Some of these Cali hires frankly are d--b as f--k. They come here and think they're at Microsoft of Google. That attitude needs to be left behind in Cali. Come here, acknowledge this is a dinosaur, and start changing things that you see could be better. Don't try to toss out the whole kitchen sink, don't act like Michiganders are inferior. Like Latitude AI tried to do with radars and we flip flopped w/ suppliers only to settle back on the tried and true Ford solution.

Cs get degrees but doesn’t mean they’re d-mb

I know some engineers hired from Cali at ford that I worked with, who were on the learning rope— but were paid a hefty ton in comparison to their Michigan counterparts who came from a less prestigious school. Michigander was mentoring on a lower salary, despite Californian relocating to Michigan for ford

You need people that challenge and speak up, but have perspective that isn’t manufacturing through an assembly line like academia

My supervisor knows how they are doing the tracking and the system is awful. The system doesn’t account for vacation or sick days. We had a week where a lot of our section was out on vacation and my supervisor got one of ‘the’ emails. If you go on vacation or sick leave just be sure to document it on you calendar and let your supervisor know and you will be ok.

Yes, and before covid Ford hr wasn't tracking badge swipes with a magnifying glass while ignoring vacation and legitimate leaves of absence and sending threatening emails of dismissal from the company if they didn't like your badge swipe data.

Totally true. I got the punishment emails with my only days I missed nadge swipes is when I took full weeks off. Otherwise i met all requirements. What bone head in human resources thinks Ford management will take effort for reporting absences for employees??

not true,, If you are on vacation or sick leave, those days will not be counted. Your manager must inform upper management about his or her vacation/Sick.
