Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Patgels the Wise?

I thought not. It's not a story TSMC would tell you. It's an Intel legend. Darth Patgels was a Dark Lord of Intel, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the fab engineers to create yielding chips... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the chips he cared about from overheating. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice on the board of directors Lip Bu everything he knew, then his apprentice got him fired him in his sleep. It's ironic he could save others from unemployment, but not himself.

Pat thought Gaudi was competitive.
He also said - completely seriously- that Nvidia’s CUDA was not a moat 😆

That and spending money he didn’t have for customers that never showed up.

For comedy maybe. He had no clue what he was doing. He still thought Intel was “Great”.
