Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

What now?

My group in FI, made up of a few teams, has been losing really good associates consistently for a while and recently we started not backfilling. These are client facing associates had huge firms on their books and no backfill to replace the direct support. I don’t understand. It’s not just one or two of these associates, it’s a good amount. People who stay are consistently overwhelmed, beyond stressed out and depressed. I can’t guess what the endgame is. What is their goal of making the environment so toxic that awesome associates leave and aren’t backfilled?!?!?

Until HR is eliminated or restructured expect things to stay the same.

Ever since the lay off of 2024, it’s like FI never really recovered. Shame to see.

AI is beginniŋg to fill-in backfill positions especially in high tech banking and investments. Being perfected soon like a McD lobby ordering system with just a few customer facing roles to hand out food and napkins. Saves $$ and more efficientlý

Welcome to the high pressure sales culture- increasing quotas, increasing duties and compensation lacking. Why backfill, if we can add onto the remaining employees it is a nice add to the bottom line. See if we can open up the margins
