@gr balance. There is no balance today, nor has there been for over a decade. You obviously haven't talked to any recent grads either. You can't replace a person with 10 years experience with a college grad and expect the same output. Hilariously, college grads not want, they expect a similar salary as an experienced engineer. If I wanted an over priced college grad with zero real experience I would hire an SIA or a VP.

Get rid of Cisco. Sell Cisco to India or move it there completely.

@c3 if it's a visa holder the government makes sure they are paid the same, if not more. I get emails once a qtr where they audit the salaries. The ones they think are low get bumped up, whether they deserve it or not.

problem at cisco is with importing indian directors on L1 visas.. i have seen many of them stealing power positions and only hiring h1b friends and LR'ing locals ..

First off - the H1Bs are not under paid. The government makes sure of that. Issue is the ones on the visas forever. Either apply for citizenship AND assimilate after 7 years or you get a 3 year break from the program and back to the dump you go. Can't believe we give as many visas as we do to countries that are not friends of the US. That would be a lot of csco done.

China will essential crush the US in tech if this happens. Pick your poison - you will be unemployed one way or the other.

cancel h1b entirely. we have enough american born graduates who can fill all those tech jobs.

All Cisco has to do to get this talent is hire OUTSIDE of the usa. You really think the lack of H1B is going to stop them from hiring ppl in some other country ?

They are not underpaid and in some cases where I have been involved are paid above market. Prevailing wage limits are in place to insure these workers are not paid below market as to do so would put Americans at a disadvantage.

Tech worker slavery is long exploited by American Companies. Without them, MAG7 will crash - just check number of employees working….

Underpaid H1Bs are the only way many tech companies can afford to operate in CA. It's another factor that will push companies to move.

pipe dream. american corporations are addicted to underpriced, end less supply of cheap labor. there is no way this is going to change with this bill or eo. companies will go bankrupt if they get rid if h1bs or hire based on need. the whole point is to turn a profit and american workers are expensive so fugget about it
