The IRS just loaded the 401k for USA employees for 2024 today
2023 active employee participation = 164,744
2024 active employee participation = 156,865
Delta = 7,879
More data will be loaded over the next few days to confirm the USA 2024 employee population, BUT you can see 2023 to 2024 saw almost 7900 employees dropped which I suspect mostly came out of current employees (this includes weather)
If we use the 2023 group life insurance numbers 51,708 and subtract 7,879 employees that says USA employee population for 2024 was 43,829 Far lower than what IBM management acknowledged
The guesstimate for current 2025 employees is approx 34k given job movements to India, RTO policy, and consolidation
