2HFY25 Talent Assessment

Two of my coworkers said they already had their evaluation review with our manager. While he was nice and all that on the call, he briefly mentioned to them to take on some additional work.. so they assumed everything was fine. However, on the actual review, they both got marked with 'not meeting expectations.' They're d-mbfounded and wondering WTF.... My review is next week, so I'm not sure what to expect. Has anyone else received their manager evaluation yet? How closely does what your manager said during the call match what they actually wrote in the assessment? And if there are any negative comments in the written assessment, what does that indicates?

What happens if you refuse to accept/submit because you disagree with unexpected, “not meeting expectations” assessment? Also I just so happen to be 5 months pregnant.

@15s

Wrong. LR are not performance but role based.

Mostly, but not always. Sometimes they are simply the least damaging staff reductions that can be made to hit a number, whether that number be:

  • a dollar amount (this will target different numbers of people depending on their grade/salary, e.g. two grade 8s cost same as a grade 12)
  • a percentage of staff, regardless of role or dollar amount

Thus, it stands to reason that laying off truly low performers are the least damaging reductions.

Oh, and @155, In my nearly two decades here, eight as a manager, I've never known of a manager being told, or have been told myself, to hit any number wrt marking people as NME, low performer, go on a PIP, etc.

Managers been told to get 40% Not Mmeting Expectations

Wrong.

means a large storm is brewing.

Wrong.

Not meeting expectations provide a reason and safety for Cisco to put people on LR.

Wrong. LR are not performance but role based.

Not meeting expectations provide a reason and safety for Cisco to put people on LR. It’s all coming from top, and no one can do anything.

This clearly means something is coming for August LR.

Same happened to me...not meet expectations out of nowhere in latest review. Hope no LR after earnings in Aug...

Your leadership sc--wed up...they were supposed to align on NMEs before 1:1's, or they were told to add more NMEs by someone else higher up after 1:1's started. Either way, leadership failed to communicate, which ironically is NME.

You have to have a performance distribution. It’s a stack rank. You don’t have to be the best on your team, just not the worst. That person will be NME

Working at Cisco is like going to a wh0re house, and then complaining that you just didn't feel loved.
