McKinsey and Bain are evil incarnate, and not how capitalism is supposed to work.

McKinsey & Company has faced numerous accusations and investigations related to their business practices and has paid significant settlements in various cases. Some notable instances where McKinsey has been accused of illegal or ethically questionable conduct include:
Opi--d Crisis: McKinsey has been accused of playing a role in fueling the opi--d crisis by advising Purdue Pharma and other dr-gmakers on aggressive marketing strategies for opi--d pain medications like OxyContin. They reportedly advised Purdue to target high-volume prescribers and use specific messaging to encourage increased prescriptions, even while aware of the growing public outcry over opi--d addiction. A former senior partner was sentenced to six months in federal prison for obstruction of justice related to his work on Purdue matters, according to a Department of Justice press release. In 2024, McKinsey settled criminal and civil investigations for $650 million and agreed to implement a significant compliance program and cease work related to controlled substances for a period of five years. This marks the first time a management consulting firm has been held criminally accountable for aiding and abetting a client's illegal activity.
Conflicts of Interest: McKinsey has been accused of failing to disclose conflicts of interest, for instance, by working for both Purdue Pharma and the FDA on related topics, according to the House.gov website. The House Oversight Committee launched an investigation into these allegations and conflicts of interest. Additionally, in 2021, an affiliate of McKinsey, MIO Partners, was fined by the SEC for failing to maintain internal controls designed to prevent the misuse of confidential information related to McKinsey's client work.
Corruption and Bribery: McKinsey's African subsidiary, McKinsey Africa, agreed to pay over $120 million to resolve an investigation into a scheme to bribe government officials in South Africa for lucrative consulting contracts, notes the U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of New York. A former senior partner was charged and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
Bankruptcy Practice: McKinsey's bankruptcy practice is reportedly the subject of a federal criminal investigation.
These are examples of cases where McKinsey's practices have come under scrutiny and have resulted in legal actions and settlements. While McKinsey has often denied wrongdoing in these cases, the settlements and legal proceedings suggest a pattern of behavior that has raised concerns about the company's ethics and accountability

Actually good point/question. Are they legally allowed to invest with information they learn from our relationship with them? Would that be insider information?

There have been several connections between Intel and McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm:
Hiring of McKinsey partner as Chief Strategy Officer: In 2020, Intel hired Saf Yeboah-Amankwah, a senior partner from McKinsey, to serve as its Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer.
Intel's focus on strategy and growth: Yeboah-Amankwah's role at Intel involved leading the company's global strategy office and working with the executive team to drive growth-oriented strategies. This suggests a connection between McKinsey's strategic expertise and Intel's efforts to navigate the evolving semiconductor industry.
McKinsey's broader work in the semiconductor industry: McKinsey has published research and insights related to the semiconductor industry, including talent gaps and innovation ecosystems.
Former Intel employees at McKinsey (or vice-versa): While less common, there have also been instances of individuals with experience at both companies, such as Rajan Naik, who worked at Intel before joining McKinsey and later becoming a Chief Strategy Officer at AMD.
McKinsey & Company was hired by Lip-Bu Tan at Cadence
In essence, the connection highlights Intel's strategic initiatives and McKinsey's role as a source of consulting expertise and talent within the technology sector. Lip-Bu Tan was appointed CEO of Intel in March 2025. He also serves on the company's board of directors. He was previously the long-time CEO of Cadence Design Systems from 2009 to 2021.
