Not a single person is feeling sorry for the executive who drops in the rankings for refusing an international move. How many times have I moved my family at the drop of a hat? How many three year moves / assignments were cut short to less than a year? Even when in Houston how many weeks per month have I been expected to travel out of town or commute 90 minutes each way "inside the Houston metro area" without even mileage and tolls being reimbursed or even a thank you for extending my commute by 2 hours a day and work week 10 hours per week. What thanks do us non-hipos get? All we get is year on year drops in the rankings. No one gives a f*ck about executives dropping for refusing to do what we do every day.

They grew up in a kinder gentler world than the rest of us, fu---d it all up for the rest of us, and now believe they had everything way worse than the rest of us. I'm sure 35 year EM wealthy Bootstraps Boomer Batman will be back to defend himself, but it's best not to encourage them.

Do you just enjoy criticizing and pouring salt in the wounds of people who weren’t born under your lucky star and have a smooth sail all the way to retirement?

In your 35 years: did you ever have a bad boss? Ever get docked on a review despite having your best year?
Did you ever possess the courage of conviction to speak up about something you know was wrong? Ever have a critical health condition that forced you to turn down a move, that would wind up derailing your career? Job? Whatever you want to call it: Main income stream for a family of seven?

If not, props to you for knowing how to “compete” and play the game. But I’m guessing you simply have no morale fabric and just know how to look the other way while in the quest of “winning.”

Don’t choke on all that financial wealth. That often happens when you have none in the currency of kindness or mercy.

I really don't care about you. I have 35 years with the company, will retire wealthy, always enjoyed my job, like the people I work with. The only thing that always annoys me are those sour bottom feeders that are not able to compete. I think we need to PIP more and not less.

OP here- @bk - many people drop in rankings for reasons unrelated to competence or performance. Some very deservedly drop due to lack of ability, but as you progress up the CL ladder, the metrics change to include many non-productive metrics.

When an executive declines an international move, they can drop from OWD to NSI in a single cycle.
