And that is the biggest site, where the most excess headcount was located.
The other fabs are each seeing numbers in the low hundreds so the total for all fabs will be below 5k.
Fabs and TD were where the bloat still existed. NEX, Automotive and other product changes won't add up to what the fabs needed to cut.
The number will only pass 20k when the outsourcing starts, apparently in October.
The big reduction will come from selling the older fabs, but that could take a year or two.
Hopefully they can lay off all those people who write on LinkedIn “I’m here for my colleagues that were let go”
OP most people don't round down for layoff numbers. The article calls out 2392 for next Tuesday 7/15. Plus it is WARN data so the actual numbers will be higher.
This week was bad but it sounds like the real impacts will be next week for this round.
