I don't think OP's intention is to hide the head in the sand, but to allow people to focus in the present, and not in a "future layoff". Yes, there are many signs that a big one is coming. Yes, people should be preparing for it. However, some people are checking this site several times a day, and that only causes them anxiety. Not good.
TBH, preparing for a layoff starts the first day of work. We are all replaceable. Live below your means, save, invest, have a second source of income.
