Thread regarding Ford layoffs

What Other Industry?

I feel like this always get brushed aside in conversation: what other industries exist in Metro Detroit that pay well?

I understand the dislike for RTO but it amazes me the number of people who brazenly just don't care and welcome impending layoffs.

But then again I'm young, fresh in my career, and don't have the experience, skills, or expertise to demand a WFH job in this market.

Friend moved to defence in aerospace and the billible hours play is a real b!tch. 10-12 hour days, 5-6 days a week. And don't think about working from home, he was even in the office during the entirety of covid.

It depends on what your area of expertise is. If it’s software there are options like insurance companies, health care companies, chemical companies, professional services companies, banks (Toledo), government etc.
Just use Dice / Indeed or other site to see what companies have positions in your field.
