WSJ CEO Council Members -- AK's Bio

For your amusement.

In 2016, Wired magazine selected Arvind as
“one of 25 geniuses who are creating the future
of business” for his foundational work on
blockchain.

Seems long overdue to change the date to 2022 and "blockchain" buzzword to "AI and Quantum".

From a stock investor perspective only, IBM CEO has done very well since he took office ; this is the only thing the board and investors are looking at.

"foundational" ?!?

IBM was late to blockchain just like every other technology it chases - the foundations were laid many years before IBM even heard of it.

What lines of code did AK contribute to hyperledger? What part of the design?

Hyperledger was all hype and bloat and isn't really used very much compared to other better blockchains.

And blockchain itself has few realistic use cases - certainly not enough to justify all that buzzword hype.

The reason he was selected by the board is the board Wanted an Indian to move di.nosaurs jobs to India, and to cleanup that bureaucracy, In order to save money and change the company culture; also the board wanted a new CEO who creates a culture of fear where people don’t feel job security

I remember when he was announced as the new CEO in early 2020. No one had any idea who he was. Everyone googled his name and nothing came up. His LinkedIn profile at the time just listed his degrees and one line bullets for his last 3 or 4 roles at IBM. He had no publications, no articles that mentioned him, no speaking engagements, nothing, he was like a ghost. The IBM PR team had to create a "bio" for him from scratch. They copy/pasted his LinkedIn to Wikipedia (looks like it's evolved substantially since). The Office Hours started as a way to get him public speaking experience to get ready for the role. Very unusual for a CEO candidate to have zero online footprint like he did.

You have to wonder how much IBM pays to have Alvind's name mentioned in this WSJ CEO Council list. No mention of leaders from bigger tech players like Meta, Google, NVIDIA etc. in the list. This Council seems to be about pushing brand name recognition to the WSJ readers. Is is worth it ? Many of these companies aren't even worth a look-over for investors, as they are not going anywhere anytime soon...the best years of many of these " featured leaders" are behind them. Alvind may have been top of the line in 2016, today in 2025 he is nothing to write home about since he's only into layoffs, not growing IBM with any significant achievements, unless it's in India. Nothing but lame announcements on Red Hat, AI, Quantum. Cloud is out, and so is Blockchain. Any bonehead can do that with some standard AI thrown in. Past performance is no guarantee of future results. So, when is the IBM stock price going to hit $300 and move up ?
