Hi guys, please be kind - im new employee at Halliburton, its been a year. When it comes to promotions - whats the percentage Halliburton gives? is it 10% or lower? Are you allowed to negotiate the percentage? Also when do promotions happen? Please give me advice. Im new to corporate.

In my opinion after working at HAL for 20+ years and still employed today, promotions depends on 3 things. 1. Your work ethic. 2. Willingness to do more than expected. 3. Having a quality manager that puts effort into elevating others. It has ZERO to do with how many years or how well you perform you current responsibilities. Number 3 is probably the most important but the problem is these kind of managers are rare.
@348 12 - 14% increase annually means someone making $120k would be getting $170k in three years! In six years he would be making $241k!! That sounds too good to be true bro..
It ranges on your performance. 7-10% usually. Don’t worry about the negative talk, if you hustle you’ll make a good career at Halliburton.
If you're not seeing 12-14% increase annually, you're probably on the short list.
Tbh, it is quite a stretch to look for a promotion within a year of joining the company. I agree with the person who suggested 2 - 3 years of learning and produce results before looking for a promotion.
@1w8 heres a thought. Be kind to others it costs you nothing. No need for backhand comments. One needs to prepare way in advance. Maybe you need to learn a thing or two.
Here's a thought. How about putting in 2-3 years to learn your job before even thinking about a promotion? Overachieving performance + experience = promotion.
Anyone know of a way to look up what pay grade for an open position?
Ask yourself why is at each grade level the range is so wide?

@dj apologies if im slow, what do you mean? Right now i am a tech professional so i think its t805-esg. And pay grade G-esg(g-esg-3).

The percentage increase depends upon few factors, including the salary band you are currently in and the new band. I would look at the salary bands based on your job code to get an idea. Promotions typically happen during Q4. You could talk to your manager and express what you are expecting well before the promotion. Coz there is really no negotiation once the promotion comes through with all the approvals.
You get what you get and don’t throw a fit!
