Now it feels like promotions go to the ones who say the right things to the right people, not the ones who actually get things done. Nepotism and favoritism are out in the open, you see people getting promoted who clearly don’t have the experience, but they’re friends with someone higher up. It’s frustrating and demoralizing, especially when you’ve been passed over again and again. There’s a real divide between corporate and the rest of us, like they live in a different world. The old sense of teamwork and fairness is long gone.

My observation during 40 years is that if you are good at what you do you stay there. They don't want to find a replacement. Others that are incompetent get promoted.
The bosses don't want someone smarter than them around.
I once made an observation upon getting new CEO.. After hearing all the places and things he had done I remarked "can't hold a job, huh?".
Promotions tend to go to people who work just hard enough, have no issues with others, don't cause too much disruption, and have a good attitude. Being a hard worker and technically skilled isn't all that counts.
The worst part is they pretend like it’s all about performance. Meanwhile, we all know who’s getting fast-tracked and why.
Everything that was good here is now long gone. This isn't the same company I joined all those years ago.
When was the last time there was a real sense of teamwork and fairness? I honestly can’t remember seeing someone who truly deserved it get promoted, or even properly appreciated.
