So they are claiming that it can detect 10k proteins. Really? That sounds more like Theranos.

@dh This is exactly my thoughts. I'm not sure if ILMN's array business has any expertise on selling proteomics . It will be interesting to see how the integration of the product portfolio and the Somalogic team within ILMN takes place.

@dh and what are we doing to do with those new 927 somalogic employees? Take a guess!!!

I wish they had $180M revenue. The somalogic part of Standard Bio Tools has $85M revenue from Arrays, not NGS. Somalogic business is not profitable. That's why they were cheap and Standard Bio Tools could acquire them. It will drag ILMN profit margin down!

This is what we get when a consultant with zero deal experience becomes the head of Corporate and Business Development.

@OP I haven’t exactly been thrilled with the leadership or company direction either. But the acquisition is trying to generate strategic growth for the company. Would you rather Jacob not try? And I assume you realize that an acquisition doesn’t come from the same pool of dollars as employee expenses…(?) Or, do you not know this and thusly are making uninformed criticisms..?

Does somalogic sale comes from NGS based product? Or its revenue is from array based assays. NGS based product that it built in collaboration with Illumina, I thought is in early access phase.
