Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

How much overtime work is required?

I have a feeling my boss is taking advantage of me because I'm new.

I am an mpt and only work 40 to 45 hours a week. I was on another high stress position before and it was implied that I needed to work more hours. I asked for written requests but the spineless leaders would not put it in writing. I was constantly told I was not doing enough. I moved out of that sh-t hole and they got an hourly contract employee to do the work. Now the contractor works 50 to 60 hours a week. I now work a straight 40 hour week and not much stress. I am too old to put up with that s heet. I did my time in my 30s and 40s. It was not that I was lazy it was the awful attitude and no appreciation of the management. They thought they could scare me and bully me. They can do this with the young ones but not me. I am too rich and experienced to let them push me around.

Field/plant and rig workers routinely work 28 straight 12hour days in a tough offshore or remote environment.

Today's Salaried office professionals are too lazy to work this hard. They need time off for their latte and prefer to work from home in their PJs.

Everyone is paid what their worth, whether salaried in a cushy office environment or in the field making 300k per year with overtime doing real work.

For MPTs time management is in long term ebbs and flows, work the long weeks and months when called upon and enjoy easy parts of the project cycle and especially transition timing. In the old days it was understood without concern for daily timesheets. These days little we---e supervisors who don't know what they're really doing revert to micromanaging.

Hahahaha. Look around at many, many exhausted colleagues. Since Covid/layoffs, it’s been rough.
