Guys I hate to say this, but I feel like Walmart has been on a mission to replace American workers with AI, automation, and workers from India.
If you work in the DC’s, I’d be worried. They will eventually automate all that and cut those workers.
If you work in Merchandising at Home Office as a Merchant or Merch support, all those new programs and automation they’ve been working on will eventually lead to your jobs being reduced. I’d get out while you can.
If you work in tech, your job will be eliminated and outsourced to Bangalore or replaced with H1B workers.
Walmart has a HUGE goal in merchandising to source many billions of dollars of products from India because (in my opinion) they view India as the next major market with a strong middle class and they want to ingratiate themselves to the Indian government and people.
Between the goal to buy more products from India and shifting home office jobs to Indian workers, they’re trying to buy India’s good will. And to be clear, I love people from India and I know they want a better life the same way we all do. It’s just hard to swallow because it’s coming at the expense of the jobs of people I care about.
I’m surprised nobody has done a news story about this or gone to the press about it. Maybe some needs to tweet at President Trump or Marjorie Taylor Green or Tom Cotton and ask if they’re for American Citizens and American jobs first, why aren’t they doing anything about the H1B problem or jobs being sent out of the country?
I don’t think a lawsuit over this would do anything, to be honest. I really think it’d take a Target/DEI style boycott from some bad press to get this mess to stop.
