Well, we're in Q3, any further developments on this? I've been refraining from mentioning this to my fellow FF colleagues as to not cause panic based on an anonymous rumor. Though we've been getting less and less boxes shipped to us with every supply delivery...

To add on, stores need dedicated packers. They are throwing whoever to pack when they wrung the fulfillment colleagues dry picking.. Leading to badly packed and wrong items sent out. If you can't spend money on it then get rid of it, trying to be cheap is costing you more, Tony & co.

If your store is closing I guess it would make sense. Otherwise, it really doesn't.. My store had their picks cuts for some pilot years ago. Really bombed, they expected to sell more in store, when we had full floors and stockrooms with no space.

For all you folks that allegedly know something, spill the tea.

I'm a Fulfillment captain. I guess I should start planning my retirement! LOL
But seriously....if we're talking about costs, look at the amount of NCT we send back. My store is under 20M and we can easily fill up a z-rod in 2-3 days. What happens to it when it gets to a warehouse? Clearly someone's not ironing it all out and sending it to the next customer.
And where is this rumor coming from?

It would absolutely make no sense to get rid of the BOPS part of fulfillment. We would lose a lot of customers that way.

Good lord, I hope not as I'm a store fulfillment associate.

There's two ways that this can be looked at. First, fulfillment brings in extra revenue to the stores. Depending on the volume, it's somewhere in the millions per year. On the other hand, if one factors in the costs such as labor, supplies, and shipping, you have to wonder what the margins or profit actually is.
If this is true, then you can start to see the writing on the wall. For example, recently they really started to cut down on packing supplies coming into the stores under auto replenishment. They are not sending enough supplies and we are either very low on or completely out of certain size boxes and poly bags.
Also, they've reduced hours for the fulfillment staff even during peak times such as F&F.

Only way I could see that truly happening is if all the stores close and Macy’s turns into just an online retailer.

If the company gets rid of Fulliment, the end of Macy's is coming soon. It's just a matter of time ⏳

I have wondered for many years now why we continue paying the freight to get this huge amount merchandise to stores only to have to pay for the freight again for free shipping to the customer. Way to go and assure you keep margins thin. Send what you must to supply the stores but making them fulfillment mini warehouses is absurd. Let those staffing the stores spread all this new found “hospitality” to what customers remain instead of keeping them around as packing and shipping experts. This is just another example that shows most of the real talent in this company was long gone well before Covid. The decline began before Uncle Terry hung it up and uncontrollably picked up speed under Jeff.

Many remember Hal Lawton and jokingly call him the “Tractor Guy” If they would have put him at the helm I can’t help but wonder what M would look like today. Instead we got stuck with a DEI CEO who nearly ruined the company. Meanwhile Hal has Tractor Supply humming along just fine and is growing fast instead of being on the decline and nearing life support like M is. Hal did not fit the mold Jeff wanted and he, like other talent moved on.

IMO our CEO has a vision but unfortunately those under him, some the VPs, many of the Directors and many Sr. Managers / Managers are only in those positions by default. They all that’s left to carry out the plan but they would struggle to run a 2-3 day weekend garage sale.

So who's going to do the packing?

I know Macy's is opening a Fulfillment center but not sure when. I can't imagine ALL fulfillment going away. Elaborate futher, if you would.

If that would happen then the sales colleagues would end up having to do it. Plus all the other criteria that needs to be reached. i.e. credit, bronze my client.
