- "Can you reject to be laid off? Like protest outside that it's unfair or threaten to sue the company, yeah?" *
True story. One guy told his manager that he won't leave after manager informed him that he has been LRed. Manager told him it's not an option but the guy kept on insisting that he will continue to work. There was some yelling too. Manager called HR who takeover the issue immediately. HR contacted IT and requested that the guy's access to the network be disabled right away. HR also brought in uniformed security guys who walked that guy out the building. He was told if he came back on Cisco property again, he will be charged on a trespass.
So, once you've been informed that your job is gone, don't insist on staying. Just move one. And don't beg your manager or higher-ups to rescind the LR.
Can you reject to be laid off?
At least in the US, no.
Like protest outside that it's unfair or threaten to sue the company, yeah?
You can get arrested for trespass and lose your shirt on lawyers fees! Companies have been doing background checks as a condition of employment in the US for decades and these actions aren't wins on those reports.

@ds third quarter earnings already happened tell us you aren’t Cisco without telling us you aren’t Cisco..you dam jackboot!
My first day at Cisco I was escorted into a conference room with the rest of the team to wait to see if we were all being laid off.
Like clock-work Cisco has laid off continually every 6 months to 1 year while continuously re-organizing every 3-6 months.
I remember how shocked I was when there was a layoff in year 2 of my time at Cisco. I started keeping count of the announced number of impacted at that time. I lost count at 30,000 a decade later.
Ever since Service Provider got hit in 2000, it's been layoffs and employee churn--25 years and counting.
I can’t tell… sarcasm or are you just new to Cisco?
Read back through this site many years and you'll find a lot of people who were at Cisco for a long time seriously complaining the layoff of the moment was Cisco's first, everyone would quit and the company would fold. The whole business unit at my site was laid off at the same time, we had months of warning, and people were sitting in the meeting completely surprised that a layoff was happening while they were soaking in it. Cisco is now in year 25 of layoffs. It could still be an old timer and not be sarcasm.

It will be all timed around the Third Quarter Earnings announcements.
Pick me, pick me, PLEASE!
no way bruh, something is happening? In August? Aaaaaaand it's related to AI?
I'm hearing about a reduction in contract employees is coming up
It's definitely not out of the question. Ever since the great LR in 2016, August gives me chills.
I guess it is ok as long as they promise it is a "last resort" LR.
Couldn’t happen to a better groupo. Enjoy!
