Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Do we have a clearer idea of the numbers?

It seems to me that it’s more than 20%, as many others have pointed out. Not that it makes much difference, especially to those who will end up jobless. But still, it would be good to know.

This cut is OpEx based. It’s not a hard HC target. They got away with saying it’s not 20% this way. Could be more, could be less.

20% is not a stated target.

The company even denied the rumors about that.

Arguably, to really fix everything (without breaking the company) would be more than 20%.

The average will be some number. More important to the company going forward is the new structure being created.

Mistakes are bound to happen, but this feels a lot like plans which were considered (then procrastinated) by the ELT for some time, so they may even get it right.

Everything I'm hearing sounds like the right thing is being done.

Some teams will barely cut. Some teams will be hollowed out.

Average will be 20%

Seen engineering teams with numbers closer to the 30% range, not 15-20% as has been reported. Small sample size ofc
