Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Just a matter of time before Norfolk Southern does the same thing BNSF is doing

Layoffs will be coming sooner rather than later I'm afraid

India has taken the reins of every industries tech sector. American CEOs have sold out the country, while stealing our know how and giving to another country to prosper. America used to be run by builders, but has been replaced with leaches that su-k the last penny out of you, while telling you change is good with a 🙂

The takeover all started with a CEO and CLO who whispered sweet gulab jamun in his ear.

NS went with 3 diff outsourcing companies so if 1 doesnt work out theyll have one of the other 2 take over :| Either way those who stay wont be doing real work and those that go to these firms will be overworked until they can get offshore up to speed. then theyll be let go.

@23k MSPs require companies to sign NDAs so they can't badmouth on performance and support issues it is apparently how they have been able to continue this model of outsourcing for decades and say they are "successful"

@2bn Sadly it won't hurt Anil. He has money and money buys you mobility. He will tuck his tail and run long before it gets bad...or at least bad publicly. By then, he'll find some other high-paying position where they want him to "work his magic." And if the new company is smart enough to ask NS about his performance, NS will be too chicken of litigation to give a negative review.

And the cycle will continue.

@23k it's bad... Chaotic to be exact... Customers will be screaming employees that transition as well as those that are left at the original company will be stretched to to fill the gaps.

Just remember if you don't apply to the MSP it sc--ws NS... And Anil ...That's how THIS works. Life at the MSP will be he-l even though they paint it as the perfect FT job...

This will be a good move. The NS IT dept experience was similar to ordering from the drive through at Popeyes chicken. Not very pleasant.

Anil the racist axe man strikes again. Outsourcing jobs to Indians who will lay off the American workers once the knowledge edge transfer is complete. Yet they still demand company loyalty.

@21x Anyone who accepts a contract with the support contractor, it'll be short. As soon as they get what knowledge they need, the US based support (ex employees) will be cut.

They made everyone go back into the office only to outsource their work to a different country... Makes sense right? 👀

@227 it is easier to cut jobs than actually fix problems. I am sure all of the c suite is recommending cuts to their own perks, to help out the OR.

Are we all sick of this "Stranger danger" CIO and board yet. I'm sure they all sleep with a clear conscience. Allow your hurt and anger to help you walk away from this toxic relationship

Wouldn't it be interesting if no one accepted a contract position with the offshoring companies ... Wouldn't it be interesting if everyone took the same sick day because of all this... Wouldnt it be nice if our management refused to sign NDAs and actually stood up for us and pushed back a little harder vs just being worried about their own necks .... We all know this will backfire ... But we could make it backfire now ... Show little Anil + who ever else is behind this id--tic move was... what dipsh-ts they really are.

Yup, we all pretty much saw this coming. As soon as they announced the hiring of Anil Bhatt, we all googled him and saw his track record with Avant. He isn't a CIO, he's a hired g-n/axe-man. Plain and simple. It is sad what NS has become.

Why the downvotes? The union should put a stop to outsourcing our work. Do what we pay dues for and represent your members.

IT has been a dying field for domestic labor since the late 90's the writing was on the wall then. Outsourcing, remoting, etc.

@1ns its really sad so many people put their life into this company only to be taken to the sla-ghterhouse or auctioned off like cattle to the lowest bidder... what is this the 80's? In a world of cancel culture and social media how is it we are not broadcasting what is happening and how it is NOT ok... I bet if everyone just walked out and striked ... we would make national news... then theyd listen becuase that would really hit them where it hurts.... bottom line... demand better... every company I go to does this with 0 fear of quality going down the drain... and every company ends up sold or bankrupt... long after the id--t leaders leave to go pillage the next company. IT layoffs happened today. Contractors and FTEs. The former gone immeadiately. The latter will be invited to apply for a position in one three companies that the work is being outsourced to. No numbers released. People affected were notified by 1pm. CIO held town hall at 3pm. Work is going to India.

Another corp selling out the American workforce to India… but are we surprised? Given the new CIO track record… New non-railroaders at the EVP level making awful decisions for likely kick-backs and perceived short term gains for shareholders. The business WILL suffer due to offshore incompetence, mark these words, and the board will somehow be surprised…

The bosses need cut and the remaining ones to start putting in extra hours in order to maximize shareholder value. Maybe reduce management by 25%, and increase their hours to 70 per week to start. That should move the needle a little. Maybe a few more cents increase during the next few quarters.
